Details:
The filter cartridge fits all standard 10” housings. This cartridge utilizes Centaur® Catalytic Activated Carbon, a media specially designed by Calgon Corporation to remove chloramines and other difficult-to-remove chemicals from water supplies. Chloramines are formed from the mixture of ammonia and chlorine in water. They are extremely persistent and not easily removed by most water treatment technology including reverse-osmosis and distillation. Chloramines are increasingly being used as a replacement for chlorine to disinfect water supplies. Chloramines give water an “off” taste that is undesirable. Catalytic activated carbon is the most effective media available to remove chloramines from water supplies.
Along with catalytic carbon, the cartridge also holds a full pound of premium KDF®55 redox media. This media is highly effective against bacteria and virus, and renders the cartridge and the water it produces bacteriostatic, meaning that it can't breed harmful levels of bacteria. (This cartridge on its own cannot be relied upon for protection from microbiological pathogens.)
The filter body is constructed with high-grade polypropylene, spin and sonic welded assuring a hermetic seal which improves overall reliability. It is filled with Centaur® catalytic activated carbon and a full pound of KDF®55 redox media.
